Since its beginnings on the PlayStation 2 in 1996, Resident Evil has been one of the most popular and prolific franchises in video game history. Now Capcom's Resident Evil Archives gives Wii gamers the opportunity to play classic Resident Evil games released over the series' 13-year history that they may have missed, and at a great value price. The first of these games is the original Resident Evil, re-released as Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil.

A Classic Reborn
Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil is the original 2002 Resident Evil port for the Nintendo GameCube. In addition to all the content from the original 1996 PlayStation 2 version, it also features the additional rooms, areas, items and creatures that made the GameCube release an instant classic.

Story
The Raccoon City Police Department doesn't know what happened to the Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.) Team it sent out to investigate the Arclay Mountain area on the outskirts of the city, where a number of people have recently gone missing. The unit's helicopter seems to have crashed in the woods, and it hasn't received any contact from the squad since. The department decides to dispatch another S.T.A.R.S. unit, the Alpha team, to check things out. But something goes terribly wrong, which is code for "Zombies!"

Gameplay
In Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil players on the Wii take control of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team members Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine (both recently seen in the smash hit, Resident Evil 5). Your mission is to investigate the ominous mansion at the core of the horrific disaster and uncover the secrets behind a radical, genetic research facility. With unspeakable horrors lurking around every corner, the ultimate test will be to make it out alive. Relive the thrills and terror that defined the genre of Survival Horror and launched a franchise that has sold over 40 million games worldwide.

New Controls and Endings
In Resident Evil for the Wii, players now have a wide range of control options, including the Wii Remote and nunchuck in combination, which lets players shake the remote to ready their weapons. In addition, the game features more than 10 different game endings. These unique endings are entirely dependent upon the decisions and actions of the player and provide for maximum replayability.

Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil Zero brings to life the original GameCube version of the classic single player survival/horror classic Resident Evil Zero for players on Wii. A prequel to the events of the original Resident Evil game, Zero allows players to control both playable characters STARS medic Rebecca Chambers and condemned military convict Billy Coen as they discover the original evil of the Umbrella Corporation's T-virus and are forced to battle the zombies, mutated spiders, scorpions and leeches that are its result. The game is a direct port of the original GameCube version with added Wii Remote/Nunchuk, Classic Controller, or the GameCube controller support.

Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil Zero takes you to the beginning of it all. In the mountains surrounding Raccoon City lurks something so vile, so horrible, that it would revile the bravest of men. Sent in to investigate a series of awful murders, S.T.A.R.S Bravo Team gets into the middle of it all when their helicopter crashes into the mountains. Starring Rebecca Chambers, and a new character Billy Coen, Resident Evil Zero is a prequel to Resident Evil 1. Explore new areas of Raccoon City, and search to uncover the secrets of the T-Virus. Control both characters simultaneously, switching between back and forth and splitting up to solve new puzzles.

Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil 0 for Wii... Before the Mansion. Before the disaster. Evil is Born. Something terrible is seeping into the once pristine mountain air. The residents of Raccoon City go about their lives unaware of the dark fate that surrounds them. It's only the beginning! Sent in to investigate a series of grisly murders in the area, S.T.A.R.S.
